This project on 3.7.09, started from 8.30pm to 8.55pm
The purpose of this project is to change the clip that prevents the main spring from being unwound after winding. If the clip broke, the watch cannot be wound because the gear of the main spring will unwound itself. The watch will not be functioning.
I experimented using Silvana Military Dial Watch circa 1950's or 1960's which was given by my friend from Netherlands. The watch had no clip and stopper when I received it. I scavenged the parts from broken old watches and managed to find the parts that were suitable.
Firstly I took out the main spring gear, put and hold the clip, put the stopper on top of the clip and screwed to tighten it. The next step was to put the main spring gear, adjusted it to align with stopper gear and then screwed the main spring gear . Screwed it clockwise. Finished!
The watch experts out there may be used to scavenging watch parts but for those who are only just starting, please use the eye lope to prevent the clip and the screw from being scattered. Especially since the clip is small and springy (because it also works like a spring to move the stopper back to its original position after the gear spring has been wounded).

Projek ini untuk menukar clip yang menahan main spring gear dari berpatah balik setelah kita mengunci jam. Jika clip ini patah, jam tidak dapat dikunci kerana gear akan berpatah balik sebab tidak ada penahan setelah spring dikunci maka jam tidak akan berfungsi.
Projek ini melibatkan jam jenama Silvana Military Dial tahun 1950'an atau 1960'an. Jam ini diberi secara percuma dari sahabat saya di Netherland. Jam ini masa saya dapat memang dah tak ade clip dan takal yang menahan. Saya cari jam-jam lama yang dah saya tikuskan untuk mendapatkan clip dan takal berkanaan, alhamdulillah ada yang sama saiznye.
Mula-mula keluarkan gear main spring, lepas tu letak clip dibekasnya, tarik kaki clip dan masukkan takalnya dan kunci dengan skrewnya. Masukkan gear main spring, tarik takal dan kaki clip untuk ngamkan dengan gigi gear main spring. Kuncikan gear main spring dengan skrewnya, pastikan mengikut pusingan jam. Selesai.... kunci jam dan jam pun berfungsi seperti biasa.
Bagi Otai-otai diluar sana mungkin dah mahir membuat keja-keja tikus menikus ni tapi bagi yang baru nak mula, sila guna eyelope kalau tak clip dan screw akan bertabur tambah-tambah clip tu, dah lah kecil, mudah terpelanting sebab ia juga berfungsi seperti spring untuk mengerakkan takal ke tempat asal setelah gear spring dipusingkan.
