In 1877, at the age of 18, Kintaro Hattori set up business repairing the Western-style clocks that were becoming increasingly popular in Japan. HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE SEIKO FIRST GENTS DIVER WATCH 6217-8001

In 1965, Seiko introduced its first model of diver's watch. This first model came in calibers 6217A and its commercialization ran for 4 years period, started in 1965 until 1969 in limited quantities thus make it difficult to find because many of them have not survived till today and sought after by seiko diver watch collectors.

The 6217s were intended for Japan domestic market only.

MOVEMENT	ORIGINAL AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT, Cal. 6217A, Seventeen (17) Jewels With non Hacking Mechanism. Professionally serviced just recently and is running well.
METAL	Solid Stainless Steel Case and Case back.
CASE 'n SIZE	ORIGINAL CASE. Has not been polished and still in its original factory finish. Width: 44 mm excluding crown; length: 45mm from lug to lug. Thick: 13mm with bezel.
DIAL/MINUTE CHAPTER RING/HANDS	ORIGINAL SEIKO 6217-8001DIAL ORIGINAL 62MAS Hands.
STEM/CROWN	ORIGINAL STEM (male/female type) engages hands, day and date wheel as it should. ORIGINAL CROWN non screws down crown It Comes With English Date Wheel.

In short - the collectability of the 62MAS does not need any further justification & no other Seiko diver can claim to be the first!
