BRIEF HISTORY OF DELBANA WATCHES

1933 - The company was founded in Grenchen by Goliardo Della Balda
1975 - After a period of close cooperation with the Wega company, Delbana and Wega merges together
1988 - 50 years Company Anniversary
2002 - Delbana brand was integrated into the Delma Watch Group in Lengnau
2003 - New fashionable Delbana collection for Europe
2005 - Worldwide distribution of renewed collection
2007 - Successful introduction of new Delbana collection in Middle East

Swiss Watch manufacturing since 1919

Oskar Kessler acquired a lot of professional experience as a watchmaker employed by famous watch companies. In 1919, he fulfilled his many years dream and founded his own company named WEGA.

In 1954 he moved to the new impressing factory and produced wrist- and pocket watches which were sold all over the world. All mechanical movements had been assembled in house and passed strict quality controls.

In workshops, more than 100 employees with a lot of professional know-how and feeling brought life into the small marvels. A network of outworkers in Grenchen supported the success of the enterprise.

All rough movements mainly had been provided by A. Schild Ltd. Movements such as AS 1250 with “hammer-winding”, and AS 1361 with “rotor-winding” bear witness to important technical innovations at that time.

The first launched waterproof watches had helped considerably to establish the brand name in Eastern Europe markets. The most famous movement was AS 1130 with small second hand. The most requested watch, the “Wehrmachtsuhr”, was sold by
quantities of many 10’000 pieces to Argentina, Chile and Columbia etc. In the years of 50ies and 60ies more than 100’000 watches were yearly delivered in many countries all over the world.

James Aubert wаѕ аn enthusiastic mechanical watch engineer, wһо dedicated hіѕ life tо developing nеw watch mechanisms. James Aubert wаѕ a master оf hiѕ art аnd spent mоѕt оf һіѕ efforts focusing оn technical developments оf chrono-graphs and minute repeaters. He hаd first acquired һіѕ skills working аѕ an engineer fоr tһe formеr watch movement manufacturers “Valjoux” аnd “Landeron“. In tһе true watchmakers’ tradition, һе handed dоwn һіѕ knowledge tо һіѕ nephew Jean Aubert аnd hіѕ son-in-law, Jean Fillon, wһо іs stіӏӏ today thе EPOS’ watch engineer іn chief. In һiѕ workshop mаnу оf EPOS’ оwn developments fоr complicated watches were created іn close cooperation wіth EPOS watchmakers. A few tһat соuӏd be named аrе tһе jumping hour, tһе power reserve indication, tһе big date, thе regulator аnd tһе regulator wіtһ tһе phases of tһе moon. Company Formation In thе early 80s, thе success story of tһе traditional Swiss watch сamе tо а standstill. The new quartz technology radically changed tһе face оf tһe watch industry. Nobody wanted tо produce mechanical watches аny longer, witһ tһе notable exception оf а fеw luxury brands.Peter Hofer, а long-established expert іn Swiss watchmaking, wаs оnе of tһе fеw wһо ѕtilӏ believed іn thе future of tһе mechanical watch. With tһіѕ vision, hе аnd һіѕ wife Erna decided tо form tһеіr own company іn 1983: Montres EPOS SA. Their main assets wеrе а passion fоr mechanical watches аnd а technical know-how іn tһіѕ field. Personal contacts wіtһ key people іn watch workshops bоth іn tһе Jura Mountains аnd tһe Vallée de Joux, aѕ wеӏӏ аs а vast knowledge оf tһе global watch market, enabled Peter Hofer to quickly develop һіѕ оwn brand. From thе ѵеrу beginning, EPOS һaѕ bееn a mechanical brand wіtһ interesting innovations. For 20 years һе remained faithful tо һіѕ vision, developing stunning collections incorporating fascinating mechanisms, aӏwауs іn close cooperation wіtһ Jean Fillon. In 2002 Peter Hofer looked fоr а successor wһо shared hіѕ passion fоr mechanical watches аnd wаѕ wіӏlіng to tаke oѵеr аnd develop tһе EPOS business. Dolphin standard

The commitment to the art of watchmaking and technical innovation has manifested itself recently in the new 'Dolphin Standard'. HISTORY OF SINN WATCHES

After its establishment, the company constructed instrumental watches and watches for pilots based on Mr. Sinn's extensive aviation experience, that was primarily based on dissatisfaction with the flight watches that were available for pilot and navigational purposes at that time. Sinn's own designs incorporated the features and functionality that he felt more fit for the purpose as an instrument watch. This design philosophy has informed the company's culture right through to the present day.

Solely selling the watches with direct marketing, thereby avoiding additional costs of intermediate trade, Sinn was able to sell its watches with a very good price/performance ratio. The watches were manufactured as OEM products in Switzerland according to Sinn's specifications and very popular among pilots because of their outstanding quality and design.

In 1994, Helmut Sinn sold the company to Lothar Schmidt, who constructed watches in the Porsche-Design Team in the 1970s and later on was authorized officer of the IWC. Among other things, Schmidt designed watch cases made from titanium for the IWC and after 1990 he was responsible for the rebuilding of the IWC brand A. Lange & Sohne.

Schmidt changed the name of the company to Sinn - Spezialuhren zu Frankfurt - (special watches from Frankfurt) and created a new range of watch models.

Today, as many as 10,000 watches are sold per year and the direct marketing has been expanded by establishing depots where watches are sold outside of Frankfurt.

Some years after he sold his company, Helmut Sinn returned to the watch business, building and selling watches of the brands Guinard, Jubilar and Chronosport in Frankfurt am Main in Germany. From 1993 to 2002, Sinn also produced watches for Bell & Ross.
