Poljot Watches History

Poljot in translation from Russian means Flight. Poljot watches history is connected with the history of Russian and Soviet aviation. All Soviet battle airplanes were completed with airborne clocks made in the 1-st Moscow Watch Factory from 1930-s. The pilots and navigators of military aviation could not fly without a wristwatch with "The 1-st Kirov MWF" mark and later with "Poljot" mark.

Poljot watches were taken into the first space flight in the history of man on April 12 1961 by Yuriy Alekseevich Gagarin. It was the model "Shturmanskie" (Navigator's). Poljot watch successfully sustained the space trial. The staff of the enterprise maintained close contacts with the cosmonauts: during the time in space our cosmonauts observed the factories devices of time. Poljot watches were taken to space flights by astronauts from France, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, and set a record in duration of a space flight together with V.V. Poljakov.

BRIEF INFORMATION ON SEKONDA STRELA

Rare vintage USSR Russian Military collectables, mechanical wrist watch chronograph STRELA first-class, brand 1-MChZ for Soviet Air Force Pilots 1970’s. So “Strela” caliber 3017 with big column-wheel movement and 45-minute counter was born. It was developed under the big secret. Strela intended only for command structure of Soviet Air Forces and Troop of Cosmonauts and was issued under military inspection. It never was on open sale. When the pilot retired special commission solved leave or not the watch for retiring pilot. In 1965 pilots-cosmonauts Pavel Belyayev and Alexey Leonov with the chronograph STRELA for the first time in histories of astronautics left in open cosmos. With the same watches have awarded first pilot-cosmonaut Yury Gagarin. So Strela was the first chronograph visited cosmos and the first watch visited in open space. It has a chromed case and back steel cover. On face side, dome glass is plastic. To the watch a watchband is added in a gift. The watch has been restored, checked and calibrated by a master watchmaker and is in very good running condition. This unique watch was kept till our time in very good condition. Dear buyers, you need to understand; for all antique watches I cannot guarantee excellent running and absolute time keeping accuracy even they are in good running condition also in some rare occasions - may require additional adjustment of accuracy.
