Brief History of Jules Jurgensen
After Jules Jurgensen's death, his son, Urban Jurgensen, took over the company and changed the name to Urban Jurgensen. The company was paid by the royal Danish government to kickstart the Danish marine chronometer industry. That involved many trips to Switzerland, more precisely to Le Locle and Geneva.

In 1838, Urban Jurgensen's son Jules Jurgensen took over the company and changed the name to "Urban Jurgensen and Sons." He started the production of fine watches under the name "Jules Jurgensen, Copenhagen".

Jules Jürgensen produced many fine, different, and fascinating watches in Switzerland, any serious watch collector may consider to own one. Jules Jürgensen was sold to a company in the US in 1936, but the watches were still produced in Switzerland until 1957, at which time it was first documented that the watches were made by others and have their name put on them.
The company was sold to Mort Clayman in 1974, a watch distributor in the US. According to the company's website, they are no longer in business
Over the years, their watches have earned more than 32 international awards for design and quality workmanship. Any Danish watch collector should own at least one of these timepieces, because many of the watches carry the royal Danish crown since the firm had an appointment to the royal Danish court.

Since 1740, when Copenhagen's Clockmaker to the Court, Urban Jurgensen began crafting elegantly designed watches from the finest Swiss parts, the Jurgensen name has been associated with the highest levels of craftsmanship, ingenuity, and invention. In recent years, the company have re-asserted itself amongst the leaders of brands that cater to the needs and wants of the independent jeweler.
