BRIEF HISTORY OF HMT WRISTWATCH
HMT, among the top 10 manufacturers of wrist watches in the world? How can? Most of the HMT military models and other mechanical models use the Citizen movement!
ReplyDeleteDear thetick-thetick, thank you very much for the way you posted you comments. I did search the history of this watch. The HMT was produced by Swiss Company, Mademoiselle Oerlikon of Switzerland and was top ten watch maker prior 1940's. In 1962, this brand was bought over by Indian Goverment and starting to use other movements including Citizen and renamed the their models based on Indian Gods and Indian Icons. BTW Thank you for looking at my blog.
ReplyDeleteTop ten in number of watches produced not the top ten of quality of the watch. This watch was so popular in India and Middle East, bought for the army. Just imagine the population of Indian continent and the number of watches was sold to those people. That's why Indian Govt bought this brand in 1962.
